Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance

Aims of The Cherwell OTSA SCITT

The aims of The Cherwell OTSA SCITT are:

  • to create teachers who meet the Teachers’ Standards at an outstanding level, have excellent subject knowledge and have the capacity and drive to improve pupil outcomes in their classrooms
  • to inspire, recruit and train those who have the potential to develop rapidly as leaders of learning
  • to establish a strong ethos and vision for school based ITT across Oxfordshire through the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance (OTSA) which is developed, led and delivered by schools for schools
  • to actively involve a wide range of partner schools in the development and delivery of our school based training programmes
  • to build capacity over time to embed school based training of teachers in our schools as a way of addressing recruitment needs within the region
  • to ensure that ITT becomes the first stage in a teacher’s continuum of professional development and leads  into their  NQT year, onto their  early years of teaching  through to them becoming a middle and senior leader – while drawing on the range of development  opportunities that the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance offers
  • to ensure that integrated and effective quality assurance, self-evaluation and continuing improvement mechanisms are built into every aspect of the provision so that as a group of schools we become self improving and self sustaining
