The Cherwell OTSA SCITT - Introduction

Our teacher training programmes, and the principles which underpin our approach, maintain the values that run throughout the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools AllianceAspiration, Collaboration, Excellence – and therefore we seek to work with our partnership of schools in an open and transparent way that promotes the very best outcomes.

 

We are the only ITT provider that is solely focussed on supporting the state education system across Oxfordshire and last year 80% of our Associate Teachers who gained QTS and employment as teachers are working in an OTSA school.

Ways in which The Cherwell OTSA SCITT is directly supporting the school-led system across Oxfordshire:

 

  • offering a full range of Salaried and Non-salaried programmes in order to attract the widest pool of high quality applicants
  • offering a full range of secondary subjects to ensure that there is a local ITT provider offering all the secondary subjects that schools need to recruit for
  • offering a number of primary enhanced programmes to address particular areas of need (notably within special schools and the nursery/ early years context)
  • paying significantly more to partner schools than any other ITT provider locally, to ensure high quality mentoring and school support
  • an overt focus on recruiting high quality applicants who are committed to the state system locally
  • creating a coherent set of links into the NQT year and beyond to further support retention
  • leading an Oxfordshire focussed marketing drive and working with individual schools and partnerships to support their own recruitment initiatives
  • offering well paid opportunities for colleagues throughout the partnership to be involved in a range of different roles
  • creating flexible and bespoke packages to support individual schools and applicants where possible
  • maintaining an ongoing dialogue with partner schools throughout the recruitment cycle in order to keep up with their ongoing recruitment needs

 

For all these reasons we need support from our partnership of schools, in particular at this stage by committing to offer as many high quality placements as possible.

Should you decide to work with us on one or more of our programmes then you will sign a partnership agreement that sets out all the relevant roles and responsibilities for both parties and you will be fully supported at each stage of the process.
