Oxfordshire Teacher Training - Information For Schools

Our teacher training programmes, and the principles which underpin our approach, maintain the values that run throughout the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools AllianceAspiration, Collaboration, Excellence – and therefore we seek to work with our partnership of schools in an open and transparent way that promotes the very best outcomes.

Recent successes that we are especially proud of include:

  • our exceptional local employment rate – over 90% of our 2017-18 cohort are now NQTs in Oxfordshire schools
  • the work that we are doing on wellbeing and career preparedness means that 99% of the Associate Teachers who started their training with us completed their training and have entered the profession
  • we have continued to develop new and innovative programmes in order to attract the best candidates; in particular, our new part-time programme is now underway with a strong cohort and we have grown our Primary with Enhanced SEND and Primary 3-7 programmes to ensure that we are supporting all schools across our partnership
  • the number of Associate Teachers training with us continues to grow and in 2018-19 we have over 90 people training with us this year across all routes, phases and subjects
  • being graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas in our recent Ofsted ITE Inspection, here are a few comments:

“The relationship between the SCITT and its partnership schools is excellent. For this partnership, meeting recruitment needs is not just about filling vacancies, but about ensuring that pupils benefit and make progress.”

“Inspectors were deeply impressed with what school leaders told them about the impact trainees and NQTs were having on outcomes for pupils in secondary and primary schools.”

“Trainees benefit hugely from the range of schools in the partnership and the contrasting placements they have. To be commended is the partnership’s contribution to schools that are in areas of social deprivation and those that require improvement.”

“The whole partnership ensures that trainees are superbly prepared for their careers in teaching. They quickly establish themselves as respected professionals and role models for the pupils in their care.”

Key benefits of being part of the partnership are:

  • we strive to ensure that everything we do is of direct benefit to the schools of Oxfordshire
  • the opportunity to directly address your school’s recruitment needs
  • full involvement in the recruitment and selection process and a commitment to ongoing dialogue throughout the recruitment cycle
  • the opportunity to support current members of staff through an ITT programme
  • excellent support and training to ensure that your school-based provision is of the highest quality
  • great development opportunities for your staff to be involved in system design and leadership, for example as recruitment and selection day panel members, School-based Mentors, Senior Links, Programme Trainers and Visiting Tutors
  • substantial financial benefits to ensure that you and your colleagues have time to carry out the required work
  • ongoing involvement in programme design and delivery
  • engagement with a network of dynamic, focussed and forward looking schools
