Oxford Education Deanery

The Oxford Education Deanery is a research-engaged professional learning partnership. Its aim is to draw on the expertise of university-based specialists to support local teachers’ professional learning and so improve outcomes for pupils in local schools.

The Deanery offers a number of opportunities for early career and established teachers to develop their practice through engagement in and with research: in the induction programme that it offers through OTSA, through small-scale action research fellowships and through its Master's in Learning and Teaching.

Through the Deanery, the Oxford University Department of Education also conducts a number of research projects in collaboration with local schools, responding to particular priorities and concerns that they have identified. Resources and research findings are made freely available to all schools on the Deanery website, but schools can also commit to more formal membership of the Deanery through the appointment of a Research Champion, responsible both for supporting teachers’ own engagement in research and for helping to shape the Department’s research agenda.
