Why Work in Oxfordshire?

Across Oxfordshire there are nearly 6000 teachers in nursery, primary, seconday and special schools, working in a variety of rural and urban locations. Each year about 400 Newly Qualified Teachers begin their career in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire is a great place to live, known for its rural beauty, attractive market towns and of course the dreaming spires of Oxford. Oxford has a global reputation for its academic achievements and architectural splendour. Oxfordshire’s central location and good transport links mean that other parts of the country are in easy reach, with London only an hour away by train.

Oxfordshire offers a wide range of opportunities to enrich pupils learning including world class museums, Roman villas, theatres and sports venues. Teachers in Oxfordshire have access to a range of local fieldwork opportunities, but also a number of excellent Oxfordshire owned field centres in other parts of the UK.

Oxfordshire schools are leading the way in partnership working through the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance ensuring that our teachers have access to excellent professional and career development from initial teacher training through to executive headship.
