Applications for OTSA Racial Equity Network Lead Now Open
BackIn July 2024, representatives from OTSA and partner schools attended the Racial Equity Network Dinner, organised by the Chiltern Teaching School Hub in Luton. It was a powerful and inspiring event that reminded us that as a profession we have made limited progress in creating a school workforce that fully represents the society we serve.
In the spring term of 2025 we established a local Racial Equity Network with these initial broad aims:
- To create a safe space for anyone in education who would like to be involved
- To focus on positivity, inspiration and celebration
- To develop a sustainable network which actively champions our ‘differences’
- To consider ways in which we can develop three main strands of focus:
- Promotion and celebration of an anti-racist curriculum and school community
- Recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce
- Ambition, aspiration and opportunity for all staff, to meet individual career goals
We understand that establishing the group and achieving its aims requires additional capacity and therefore we are inviting applications from teachers currently employed in one of our partner schools to serve as the OTSA Racial Equity Network Lead for the academic year 2025-2026. The designation and role is for one year in the first instance.
